Chef Barb's menus are prepared to provide a blend of fresh fruits, an egg course, a
pancake/waffle/french toast type course and a separate meat dish at every meal. Freshly brewed
coffee, tea and juice are, of course, also served. Every meal is closed with a dessert
or local cheeses (for which Green County, Wisconsin is famous). Eggs are purchased locally
from free range chickens.
Breakfast is served daily at 8:30 A.M. But if you are an early riser, you are invited to
step out at 8:00 A.M. to the expansive side porch (Check out the picture which can be seen by
selecting the "Oak Hill Manor" button) where coffee and tea, or your favorite
morning beverage is available. Weather not allowing, morning coffee and tea are served in the
parlor.
| At 8:30 A.M. you will enter the dining room where soft music is playing, and where candles on
the table and a fire in the fireplace set just the right romantic mood. The table is set with fine
linen, and goblets of lemoned ice water await you. Sit back and be prepared for the type of meal
service enjoyed at only the finest restaurants. Every day has it's own special menu. |
 |
Sunday mornings you will start with a refreshing glass of juice or a fresh fruit smoothie,
prepared just for you. A seasonal fruit salad with greens is next. Your first hot
entree could be the classic eggs benedict, served on a warmed plate, and prepared to a turn in Oak
Hill Manor's kitchen. This will be followed up with a perennial favorite, baked french toast.
Fresh butter and maple syrup are served as toppings if you like. An accompaniment of breakfast
sausages, perfectly seasoned and grilled, is also served. Finally, a gourmet dessert or
specialty cheeses will follow to provide a sumptuous and balanced breakfast. (Of course, coffee and tea are "topped up"
throughout the meal.)
Recipes for the favorites
served on the Oak Hill Manor Sunday menu are happily provided
Seasonal afternoon or evening treats vary at Oak Hill Manor. Arrive on a
warm summer day, and enjoy a refreshing lemonade with a light snack in the shade of the
beautiful side porch. On a chilly evening, sip a glass of wine in front of the fireplace in
the comfortable parlor. Often you will be tempted by the smell of something baking in the
kitchen; and you will be invited to sample some cookies or some banana nut bread fresh from
the oven.
Whether it's freshly baked Christmas cookies in December, pumpkin Pie in November, fresh
homemade grape preserves made with grapes picked from our own concord grape vines in the fall;
or any of a number of other treats, something is always cooking at Oak Hill Manor.
